I am a self-taught narrative/landscape artist working primary in oil paint. I draw inspiration from what’s around me. Everything to broad landscapes to simple narrative scenes of everyday life. I tend to paint subjects and scenes from the season I’m in. Summer in summer. Fall in fall. Except late winter or early spring then I paint the season I want to be in. Summer.

 I've learned to have patience in the painting process. The best results are not rushed. I work in multiple layers of paint letting each new layer interact with the last. I create photo art from my photos to use as reference photos for my oil paintings. The best photo art images stand alone as original pieces of art and are in the queue to be painted and some are available in the Prints section of my website.   I usually paint from reference photos I've taken. 

As part of my process, I apply artistic effects to transform the image into a reference for an oil painting looking for the best color and composition options. I know I've gotten it right when say out loud, “that’s a painting”. I call these “Photo Art” I've included some of these images to my print store because I love how they look and stand alone as a piece of art. Most often the reference images in the print store are in the queue to be painted as an Original Oil Painting.

Dave Fox lives in Kirkland, Washington with his wife Angela, three kids, two dogs, and the cat.  Dave is a bit of a nomad that has had 25 major moves in his lifetime including seven years in Berlin, Germany. 

My studio assistants Kula, Kai and Harry. Kula and Kai are full time. Harry only helps occasionally.
